PLM Meters Setup
Use this page to set up information for meters. Meters are used for charges that are based on consumption usage, such as electricity charges.
From this page, you can also review the status of a meter and to which lease it is attached.
Set Up a Meter
To set up a meter, follow these steps:
- Specify a unique meter No. and a descriptive meter Name.
- Select the meter Reading Type.
The default value is Reading. - If needed, specify the Initial Reading for the meter.
- If you want to be able to import meter data that accumulates with the existing values, select the Accumulate on Import option.
- Repeat these steps to add more meters.
Meters are assigned to leases on the PLM Lease page.
Note: Meters that are attached to a lease cannot be deleted.
Review the following notes about editing a meter:
- The meter No. can be edited only before the first invoice that uses the meter is created.
After the first invoice that uses the meter number is created, the meter number cannot be changed. - The meter Name can be edited any time.
- The Initial Reading can be edited only when the meter is not attached to a lease.
- The Status and Lease number are automatically updated based on the lease activity.
Fields
This page contains the following fields:
Field | Description |
No. |
Specify the unique meter number. Meters can be reused by different leases at different times, but can be used by only one lease at a time. |
Name |
Specify a descriptive name for the meter. |
Reading Type |
Select how the meter values are entered on the Meter Readings page:
After invoices have been created for the meter, the meter reading type cannot not be changed. |
Initial Reading |
Displays the initial reading for the meter. For a Reading meter reading type, this value is used by the meter when it is attached to a lease and is read-only. If the meter is not attached to a lease, you can edit the value. When the lease that is attached to the meter is terminated, the initial reading value is automatically updated with the value of the reading of the last meter line that has been processed. For a Consumption meter reading type, this value is zero (0) and cannot be changed. |
Last Reading |
Displays the last available reading for a meter. Read-only. The value is a link to the a page that shows all the billing details of where the last reading is used. |
Total Consumption |
Displays the total consumption of the meter from all leases. Read-only. Available for Consumption meter reading type. The value is a link to the a page that shows all the billing details of where the meter was used. |
Status |
Displays the status of the meter. Read-only.
When reviewing the status of a meter, note the following:

Lease Number | Displays the lease number that is or was attached to the meter. Read-only. If MULTIPLE appears as the value, selecting the text shows all lease numbers previously and currently attached to the lease. |
Active Lease Number | Displays the lease number that is currently attached to the meter. Read-only. When no lease is attached to the meter, the value is empty. |
Accumulate on Import |
Indicates whether imported meter reading or consumption values are accumulated with the existing values:
When a meter is used by a lease, this setting cannot be changed. |
