Customer Split
Use this functionality to split the invoice for an item among multiple customers. Access this page in one of the following ways from the Billing Schedulespage:
- Header Actions: Billing schedule > Customer split
- Billing Schedule Lines Actions: Select a line and select Customer split
When the page is accessed from the header action, the values entered are the default values for the lines.
This functionality is useful in the following type of scenario: A company refurbishes computers and sells them to various school districts in a state. An agreement between the state government and the school districts is set up such that when a school district purchases the computers from this company, the state government pays 80% of the cost of the computer, and the school district pays 20%.
When setting customer split for billing schedule lines, keep the following information in mind:
- Customer split is currently not available for unbilled revenue items.
- For items that use revenue splitting, the customer split is set for the parent item and for the child items it is disabled.
- For milestone billing items, the customer split is set for the milestone billing child items. Customer split cannot be set for the milestone billing parent item.
Copying a Billing Schedule
When copying a billing schedule, use the Billing schedule > Copy schedule action on the Billing Schedulespage.
- New customer split fast tab added to copy schedule screen. The tab will only be visible when customer split is enabled in parameters.
- Certain fields can be modified on the customer split lines: customer account, invoice account, percentage, customer reference and project id. The start date and end date will be modified only if the dates on billing header level are modified during copy schedule process.
- Can add or remove customer split lines.
- If a customer which already exist on the customer split ‘cust account’ field is picked, then an error will be thrown as same customer can’t be used for billing schedule header and customer split lines.
- When using copy to existing schedule, the process will take care to coping the customer split header lines to the newly added lines on the destination billing lines. If something is modified in the customer split fields, then those changes will be reflected in the destination customer split lines including the header. For example, if a new line is added to customer split lines or existing fields are modified on customer split lines then those changes will carry over to existing copy schedule process.
Note: Only the header lines will be copied from the previous schedule and those header lines will be applied to all new schedule header and lines.
