SBS ARED Deferral Revenue Reports
In Subscription Billing, you can generate deferral revenue reports for summary and detailed balances, recognized and unrecognized revenue, and declining balances.
SBS ARED Deferral Balance Summary
This report is generated for a specific date. The deferral balance is commonly used to reconcile the balances in the General Ledger accounts.
With the As On Date, you can determine the balance of a deferral account as of a specific date, which can be useful when reconciling past periods (for example, when processing continues after a month or year end). The As On Date is also useful for audit purposes because it can show a 'snapshot' for a recognition schedule based on a previous date.
Amounts that originate from the Sales module and are a return type (negative invoice lines) appear as negative amounts. General journal credits are also shown as negative amounts.
When generating the report and to be able to reconcile the deferral balance to the General Ledger, it is best to include all deferral schedules in the report.
From v1.42.8.0 - added Short-Term Account and Short-Term Amount to report.
From v1.43.7.0- added Original Document Number to report.
Options
The following options are available:
Field | Description |
As On Date |
Select the as of date for which you want to see a ‘snapshot’ of deferral schedules. If the posting date of a deferral schedule is on or after the As On Date and if the deferral schedule has a balance, then the deferral schedule is included in the snapshot. Deferral schedule audit records are used to reconstruct the state of the deferral schedule as of the date specified. All actions affecting the recognition and deferral amounts are accounted for. For example, you have a deferral schedule for 12 months, recognizing 100.00 on the last day of each month January to December, which was posted on January 1. If you set the As On Date before January 1, the deferral schedule is not shown, because it would not have been posted at that time. You would see the following values:
If you set the As On Date to January 5, you see the following values:
If you use set As On Date to December 31 or after, the deferral schedule is not shown because the deferral balance is zero. In this way, you can use the report to reconcile to the General Ledger, because the transaction date on the recognition schedule audit records should match the posting date of the general journal entry transaction (assuming all transactions have been posted through the General Ledger). |
