Schedule (Posted Sales Credit Memo)

Use this page to view the deferral schedule information for an item that is part of a credit memo.

Create Credit Memo

To create a credit memo, follow these steps:

  1. From the Sales Credit Memos list, select New to create a credit memo.
  2. In the Sales Credit Memo page, select the customer.
  3. In the Home tab, select Prepare > Get Posted Document Lines to Reverse.
  4. In the Posted Sales Document Lines page, select a line, and select OK.
  5. Back on the Sales Credit Memo page, the Lines area is updated with the selected item.
  6. If the item has a deferral schedule attached to it, select SBS Options > Advanced Deferral to open the SBS ARED Transaction (Sales Credit Memo) page and review the details of the deferral schedule.
  7. After you finish review the deferral schedule details, close the page and return to the Sales Credit Memo page.
  8. Post the credit memo.

When Use Acc. Amortization for Deferred COGS is Yes on the SBS ARED Advanced Revenue & Expense Deferrals Setup, and the credit memo is posted, the COGS, discount, and sales accounts are replaced with the deferral revenue, discount, and COGS accumulated amortization accounts. Also, the deferral schedules for the revenue, discount, and COGS amounts are created.

For credit memos created from a billing schedule, the deferral schedule is attached to the billing schedule. The deferral schedule information is transferred to the credit memo. Upon posting the credit memo, a deferral schedule for the credit memo is created.

Credit Memo Deferral Information
Adjust Schedule Indicates whether the deferral schedule is to be adjusted. If a deferral schedule is attached to the sales line, this option is automatically selected and cannot be edited.
Adjusted Schedule

Displays the deferral schedule number.

This value appears when the credit memo is created from a posted sales invoice (using the Create Corrective Credit Memo action).

Recalculation Date

Select the date on which you want to recalculate the deferral schedule. The default date is the start date of the next unrecognized period.

This value appears when the credit memo is created from a posted sales invoice (using the Create Corrective Credit Memo action).

End Date

Select the end date of the deferral schedule.

  • For straight line deferral schedules, the default is the end date of the existing deferral schedule.
  • For event based deferral schedules, the default is empty since the end date is determined by the event.

This value appears when the credit memo is created from a posted sales invoice (using the Create Corrective Credit Memo action).

Billing Schedule Number Displays the associated billing schedule number. This value appears when the credit memo is created by terminating a billing schedule.
Deferral Adjustment Displays the deferral adjustment method used when a credit memo is applied to a deferral schedule after a billing schedule is terminated.

Displays the sales order number.

Deferred Accounts
Deferred Revenue/Expense Account

Displays the account used for the deferral amount.

Deferred Discount Account

Displays the account used for the deferral discount amount.

Deferred COGS Account

Displays the account used for the COGS amount.

Recognition Accounts
Revenue/Expense Recognition Account

Displays the account used for the recognition amount.

Discount Recognition Account

Displays the account used for the discount recognition amount.

COGS Recognition Account

Displays the account used for the COGS amount.

Schedule Line
Displays the recognition lines for the deferral schedule.
Deferral Start/End Date Displays the deferral start and end dates for the deferral period.
Amount Displays the recognition amount.
Discount Amount Displays the discount amount for the deferral period.
COGS Amount Displays the COGS amount for the deferral period.
Stubbed Displays whether the line has been subbed. A selected check box indicates that the line has been stubbed.
Recognized Displays whether the line has been recognized. A selected check box indicates that the line has been recognized.
Recognition Date Displays the date on which the line is recognized.
Recognition Journal No. Displays the recognition journal number, which you can select to review more details.
Amount Details

Displays sum total amounts for the original revenue, discount, and COGS amounts. The following amounts are available: 

  • Original amount
  • Adjusted amount
  • Stubbed
  • Recognized
  • Stubbed and recognized
  • Unrecognized
  • Short term
  • Long term
  • Total amount

This page contains the following buttons: 

Button Description
Recognize

Opens a dialog where you can specify the details for recognizing the selected lines. Specify the following values: 

  • Cutoff Date: Specify the recognition cutoff date.
  • Description: Specify a description for the recognition
  • Override Transaction Date: Select whether to override the transaction date.
  • Transaction Date: If overriding the transaction date, specify the transaction date.
  • Transaction Date for Closed Periods: Specify the transaction date for recognizing closed periods.
  • Recognition Journal Template: Select a recognition journal template.
  • Recognition Journal Batch: Select a recognition journal batch.

After specifying the values, select Recognize to recognized the selected deferral lines.
