Stockkeeping Units
Use this page to record information about items for a specific location or a variant code. Stockkeeping units (SKUs) are a combination of an item and location and are part of standard Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. For more information, see the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central documentation.
With HMM, there are additional fields added to the standard Stockkeeping Unit Cardpage.
The items that you work with in a Stockkeeping Unit Card are associated with locations. This means, for example, that you can set up different par counts for the same item if it is stocked at multiple locations. To make changes to items which are associated with locations, use the Stockkeeping Unit Card page.
Set Up Stockkeeping Units
There are two ways to create a new stockkeeping unit: from the Stockkeeping Unit Card page or from Item Card page.
Method One: Stockkeeping Unit Card
This method allows you to set up many details for the stockkeeping unit.
For method one, do the following:
- Search for and open the Stockkeeping Units page.
- On the Action tab, select New. The Stockkeeping Unit Card opens.
- Under the General FastTab, set up the following fields:
- For Item No., select the item to use.
- For Location Code, select the location to use.
- For Usage, select the type of usage for the stockkeeping unit. You can set it as a stock or non-stock SKU.
- Then, under the Replenishment FastTab, you can select and enter information about how the SKU will be replenished.
- For stock items, for Vendor Re-Order Quantity, you can enter the minimum quantity of the item that you want to order from the vendor.
- For Unit of Measure, you can select the UoM to use for the re-order quantity.
- Enter any other relevant information about the SKU and then save.
Method Two: Item Card
This method may be slightly faster, but will not provide as many options for the set up of the stockkeeping unit. You can still edit the unit after you create it.
For method two, do the following:
- Search for and open the Items page.
- Select the item you want to use to create a stockkeeping unit.
- On the Action tab, select Home > Create Stockkeeping Unit. The Create Stockkeeping Unit dialog opens.
- Under Filters, select the following fields:
- For No., select the item to use.
- For Location Code, select the location to use.
- Select OK.
You can review information about the SKU by opening it from the Stockkeeping Units page.
Print Shelf Labels of Stockkeeping Units
To print the bar code labels of stockkeeping units, do the following:
- Search for and open the Stockkeeping Units page. Select the SKU card which you want to print the label of.
- On the Action tab of the SKU card, select Actions > HMM > Shelf Label. The Shelf Labels dialog opens.
- For Item No., select the stockkeeping units to print their shelf labels. You can select multiple SKUs.
