PLM Deposit Return
Use this page to process deposit returns. A deposit can be returned to the customer for any reason, such as a lease termination. Or if the deposit is not being returned to the customer, the deposit return can be used for outstanding lease expenses or other use upon termination of a lease.
Return a Deposit
To process a deposit return, follow these steps:
- From the PLM Lease for an existing lease, select Deposit Return.
- On the Deposit Return page, find the line you want to process a deposit return.
- Specify the Return Amount and select the Return Type.
- For a journal entry return type, specify the Offset Account Type and the Offset Account number.
- Select Process.
- When you are asked to confirm the action, select Yes.
After the line is processed, the page closes. - Open the Deposit Return page again and find the lines you just processed.
- For a line that you want to post, select the Return Document No.
- For journals, selecting the return document number opens the Journals page, where you can post the journal batch. Posting a journal is part of the standard Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central functionality. For more information, see the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central documentation.
- For credit memos, selecting the return document opens the corresponding sales or purchase transaction page, where you can post the transaction. Posting a sales or purchase transaction is part of standard Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. For more information, see the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central documentation.
- After the transaction is posted, close the page to return to the Deposit Return page, and refresh the page.
All return deposition lines remain visible in the list.
After a line is processed, the Return Document No. value is updated with the document number of the transaction. Also, the return deposit line is added to the deposit history for auditing purposes.
Review the Deposit History
To review the deposit history for a specific line, follow these steps:
- From the PLM Lease for a existing lease, select Return Deposit.
- From the list, select a line and select Deposit History.
Fields
The following field boxes are available:
Field | Description |
No. | Displays the deposit to add to the lease. Read-only. |
Description | Displays the description of the selected deposit number. Read-only. |
Date | Displays the date on which the deposit line is added. Read-only. |
Deposit Amount | Displays the amount for the deposit. Read-only. |
Deposit Account | Displays the account used for the deposit. Read-only. |
Document No. | Displays the document number for the journal entry. Read-only. |
Return Date | Specify the date on which the deposit is to be returned. |
Return Amount |
Specify the amount to return. This value must be less than or equal to the deposit amount of the line. When the return amount is less than the deposit amount, more than one return can be processed for the deposit until the full deposit amount is returned. |
Remaining Amount | Displays the amount of the deposit that has not been returned. This value is automatically calculated as follows: Deposit Amount - Return Amount. |
Return Type |
Select the type of return:

Offset Account Type | Select the offset account type for the journal entry or credit memo return types. |
Offset Account | Select the offset account number for a journal entry or credit memo return types. The account numbers available depend on the account type selected. |
Return Document No. | Displays the document number return. Read-only. This value is updated after the deposit return line is processed. |

Select whether a deposit slip is used for the deposit.

Actions
The following actions are available:
Action | Description |
Process | Processes the deposit return. For journal entries or credit memos, generates any necessary transactions for the selected deposit lines. |
Deposit History |
Opens a read-only page where you can review the deposits and returned deposits for the selected line. When this page is opened from the PLM Lease, the list shows the history of all deposits and deposit returns for the lease. In addition to the information from the from the PLM Deposits and PLM Deposit Return pages, the list shows the user who processed the deposit or return deposit, the date on which the action occurred and they type of action. |
Close | Closes the page without processing any lines. |
