HMM Par Count Process
Use this page to create and run par counts which provide information about the quantity of items on hand and can be used to replenish items if necessary.
You must have set up par lists for locations before you can run par counts at those locations. Make sure to add items to the Par List Setup for each location.
Running a Par Count
There are two ways to create a par count.
- Manual Par Count: Count the quantity of items and enter the values manually on the HMM Par Count Process page.
- Par Count by Portal: Use handheld portals to count the quantity of items. You can use handheld portals which are either online or offline. If the portal is offline then the quantity is updated automatically the next time the portal is connected.
For either type of par count, when you run a par count process the following transactions are created:
- Supply Requisition: This type of transaction will be used if a replenishment location is assigned for item and location on the Par List.
- Purchase Requisition: This type of transaction will be used if a replenishment location is not assigned for the item and location on the Par List. The preferred vendor which is set up on the Item Card page is used for the purchase requisition.
All items which are included in a specific transaction type will be included in the same transaction. For example, if gloves, bandages, and gauze are all requested by a transfer preview transaction, then a single SR is created which includes each of those items.
Manual Par Count
When you use the Manual Par Count method you enter values about the on hand quantity of items into the HMM Par Count Process page. When using the par count process, you can replenish both stock and non-stock items.
To run a manual par count, do the following:
- Search for and open the HMM Par Count Process page.
- Select Manual Par Count as the Action Type.
- For Location, select the location for the par count.
- Items which you have added to the par list for the location will appear.
- On the HMM Par Count Process table, under Quantity on Hand, enter the quantity on hand of the item at the location.
- The Quantity to Order will automatically update when you enter value for the Quantity on Hand.
- You can select Add New Item on the Action tab to add other items to the par count process. The items you add must be set up as stockkeeping units for the location selected for the par count process.
- After adding any other items, select Process.
After processing the par count the corresponding transaction is created, if the quantity on hand was less than the par quantity.
MEM Integration
When MEM is installed and has been enabled on the MEM Multi-Entity Setup page, the Entity ID field is added to the line level.
When a Purchase Requisition is created, the To Location field will be disabled, and you will only be able to select the From Entity ID. All MEM related security (Item/Vendor/Location) will be managed automatically. In this example, the New Company Code associated with Location/Item will be picked automatically as per the MEM setup.
When a Supply Requisition is created, the From Location and To Location both remain editable. MEM Security (Item/Vendor/Location) will be applied to both the To and From entities.
Par Count by Portal
Make sure that you have a handheld device with Materials Management installed. Go to that handheld device, and then do the following:
- From the Materials Management page, tap Requisition Inventory.
- In the Requisition Inventory page, for Location Code, select the location where you want to count on hand quantities.
- If there is a bar code for the location, you can scan that bar code to select the location.
Note: You can only select locations to which you have access. If you want to change the locations you have access to, go to HMM Portal User Location Access.
- If there is a bar code for the location, you can scan that bar code to select the location.
- For Item Number, select the item.
- Information about the item, such as the item description, par unit of measure (UoM), and par quantity are automatically generated based on the item and location setup in Business Central.
- If there is a bar code for the item, you can scan that bar code to select the item.
- For Quantity on Shelf, enter the on hand quantity of the item.
- Then:
- If Upload Real Time in your user Portal User Profile is turned on, select Upload to upload the transaction to Business Central.
- If Upload Real Time in your user Portal User Profile is turned off, select Save to save the transaction to your handheld device. Then, when your device is connected to the internet, or when you are ready to upload the transaction to Business Central, select Upload.
- When you upload the transaction, a log report will display details about the transaction.
- Repeat these steps as needed for each item and location combination.
When you upload the transactions, they are uploaded to Business Central. You can view details about the transactions on the HMM Par Count Process page.
To process any portal par count transactions, make sure that you select Par Count by Portal as the Action Type. You can then change the Quantity to Order, if necessary, and then process any available lines.
Par Count Auto Issuing
When you run a par count, auto issuing will automatically create and process par count transactions. Auto issuing is only available if you have turned on Auto Issue for the item and location combination in the Par List for the selected location. For example, if you want auto issue to apply when you create a par count for Location A and for Item B, then you must make sure Auto Issue is marked on the Par List of Location A and for Item B.
