Location Card

In the Location Card, there are some HMM fields you must set up. Select the location type which determines whether it will be a consumption or replenishment location.

Set up a Location Card

To set up a location card in HMM, do the following:

  1. Review the information here: Set Up Locations.
  2. Under Location Type, select the type of location.
    1. If the location type is Consumption, you can also select the replenishment location, the site which supplies the consumption location with replenishment inventory.
    2. Selecting a replenishment location is optional.

The following field boxes are available:

Location fields
Field Description
Location Type

Select the type of location, Consumption or Replenishment.

  • Consumption: This type of location receives and uses items.
  • Replenishment: This type of location supplies other sites with items.
Replenishment Location Select the default replenishment location for the Location if the location is a consumption site.
Two Bin Kanban

Select to use a two bin replenishment system for the location. The two bin system uses two "bins" of inventory items. You can only pull items from bin one until it is empty after which the par count for the bin is ordered. You can still pull items from bin two until the first bin is replenished.

For example, you turn on Two Bin Kanban for Location A. You have created a par quantity for the item Gauze. The par quantity is 50. When you first set up the location, 100 units of gauze will be sent to Location A, so that the two bins at the location can be filled, 50 units per bin.

Only units of gauze from the first bin will be used, until the first bin is empty. Then, a materials management worker enters the quantity on hand as 0. 50 units of gauze, the par quantity, will be transferred to Location A to replenish the empty bin, while the second bin is being used.

  • On: The par list and par count process will not change, but the total quantity at the selected location will be doubled. The total quantity for the location will be doubled so that both bins can be filled during a par count process.
  • Off: The total quantity of the selected location will not change. The par list and par count process will work for the location.

For more information about using bins and locations see: Set Up Locations to Use Bins.
