IC Suite Partners

Use this page to set up intercompany partners. This page is similar to the standard Intercompany Partner page in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. For more information, see the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central documentation: Set Up Intercompany Transaction Posting .

When setting up the Intercompany Suite partner records, remember that both companies must use the Intercompany Suite functionality. The use of Multi-Entity Management in either the originating or destination company is optional.

Create a Database Partner Record

This type of intercompany partner record is for companies that use the same environment. These companies must belong to the same tenant. To create an Intercompany Suite partner record, follow these steps: 

  1. In the General FastTab, do the following: 
    1. Specify a unique IC Partner Code and IC Partner Name.
    2. Set Inbox Type to Database.
    3. Specify the originating and destination companies.
    4. Complete the other options as needed.
  2.  On the Intercompany Suite Accounts Setup FastTab, do the following: 
    1. Select the entities for the originating and destination companies.
    2. Select the Due To and Due From accounts for the originating and destination companies.

Create Web Service Partner Record

This type of intercompany partner record is for companies that use different environments. These companies can belong to the same or different tenant. Before setting up this record, ensure that an endpoint record is already created for the intercompany partner. To create an Intercompany Suite partner record, follow these steps: 

  1. In the General FastTab, do the following: 
    1. Specify a unique IC Partner Code and IC Partner Name.
    2. Set Inbox Type to Web Service.
    3. Specify the Originating Company.
    4. Select the Endpoint and Destination Company.
    5. Complete the other options as needed.
  2. Select Connect to IC Partner to update the Destination Multi-Entity Management Info FastTab.
  3. On the Intercompany Suite Accounts Setup FastTab, do the following: 
    1. Select the entities for the originating and destination companies.
    2. Select the Due To and Due From accounts for the originating and destination companies.

Copy the Inverse of the Due To and Due From Accounts

To copy the Due To and Due From accounts from an originating company to a destination company, follow these steps: 

  1. Retrieve an Intercompany Suite partner record. The record selected must use the Web Service inbox type.
  2. Select Copy to IC Partner.
  3. In the dialog that appears, select a Partner Code and select Process.

After the process completes, the accounts are copied as follows: 

  • The Due To and Due From accounts from the originating entity of the source Intercompany Suite partner are copied to the destination entity of the selected Intercompany Suite partner.
  • The Due To and Due From accounts from the destination entity of the source Intercompany Suite partner are copied to the originating entity of the selected Intercompany Suite partner.

General

The field boxes on this FastTab are the same from the standard Intercompany Partner page in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central with the exception of a few Multi-Entity Management-specific field boxes. For information on the standard field boxes, see the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central documentation: Set Up Intercompany Transaction Posting .

The following table provides descriptions only for the Multi-Entity Management field boxes. Other field boxes are part of standard Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and will not be described.  The available values for the other field boxes are for the originating company that you selected.

Field Description
IC Partner Code Specify a unique intercompany partner code.
IC Partner Name Specify the intercompany partner name.
IC Partner Type
  • Both: Default Value. Partner can be used for both Intercompany Transactions as well as Master Data Synchronization.
  • Master Data: Partner can only be used for Master Data Synchronization.
  • Transactional: Partner can only be used for Intercompany Transactions.
Inbox Type

This field box have the same purpose as the Transfer Type field box. For the Intercompany Suite functionality, select one of the following options: 

  • Web Service: Select this option when the intercompany partner is on a different tenant. When this option is selected, the endpoint value is required.
  • Database: Select this option when the intercompany partner is on the same tenant.
Originating Company Specify the originating company for the record.
Endpoint Select the Intercompany Suite endpoint for the partner. This value is required if the intercompany partner is not in the same tenant environment. Available when Inbox Type is Web Service. Endpoints are set up on the IC Suite Endpoints page.
Destination Company

Specify the destination company for the record.

  • When Inbox Type is Database, only companies from the same tenant are available.
  • When Inbox Type is Web Service, select Connect to IC Partner to access a list of available companies.
Currency Code Specify the Currency Code for the partner.
Blocked Specify if the partner is blocked.
Receive Only Specify if the partner is only allowed to receive transactions.
Auto Accept Transaction Specify whether transactions from this intercompany partner are automatically accepted.
Enable Direct Posting

Specify if IC general journals are posted directly when accepted on the Intercompany Inbox Transactions page.

Default Accept IC Partner Specify the default IC Partner used to accept transactions. Used when one originating/destination company combination has multiple IC Suite partners.
Customer No. Specify the customer number that this intercompany partner is linked to.
Outbound Sales Item No. Type Specify what type of item number is entered in the IC Partner Reference field for items on sales lines that you send to this IC partner.
Vendor No. Specify the vendor number that the intercompany partner is linked to.
Outbound Purch. Item No. Type Specify what type of item number is entered in the IC Partner Reference field for items on purchase lines that you send to this IC partner.
Cost Distribution in LCY Specify whether costs are allocated in local currency to one or several IC partners.

Destination Multi-Entity Management Info

The values in this FastTab are read-only and are updated based on the destination company selected.

Field Description
Multi-Entity Management
MEM Company

Indicates whether the destination company uses the Multi-Entity Management entity functionality.

  • On: The destination company uses the Multi-Entity Management entity functionality.
  • Off: The destination company does not use the Multi-Entity Management entity functionality. When Multi-Entity Management is not used, the IC Partner Dimension is empty.
IC Suite Company Indicates whether the intercompany partner is enabled.
IC Partner Dimension Displays the dimension code that is used as the entity code for the destination company.
Master Data
Sync Enabled Specify whether the intercompany partner has Synchronization enabled.
Company Type Specify the intercompany partner Company Type.

Intercompany Suite Accounts Setup

The following field boxes are available: 

Field Description
Originating

Select the entity of the originating company. This is the entity from which Intercompany Suite transactions originate.

If the originating company does not use Multi-Entity Management entity functionality, no entities are available to be selected, and the field box can be empty.

Destination

Select the entity of the destination company. If the destination company does not use Multi-Entity Management entity functionality, no entities are available to be selected, and the field box can be empty.

Due To / Due From Accounts
Originating

These accounts are from the list of available accounts for the entity of the originating company.

Account Name

Displays the description of the Due To or Due From account selected.

Due To Account Code

Select the account to be used for the originating entity.

Due From Account Code

Select the account to be used for the originating entity.

Destination

These accounts are from the list of available accounts for the entity of the destination company.

Account Name

Displays the description of the Due To or Due From account selected.

Due To Account Code

Select the account to be used for the destination entity.

Due From Account Code

Select the account to be used for the destination entity.

Actions

The following actions are available: 

Action Description
Dimensions

Select this action to view or edit dimensions, that you can assign to intercompany transactions.

Disabled for Master Data partner type.

Connect to IC Partner

Select this action to get the latest data related to the destination company. After the action is processed, the Destination Multi-Entity Management Info FastTab is updated and the entities and accounts for the destination company are available on the Intercompany Suite Accounts Setup FastTab. The endpoint is associated with a company that belongs to a different environment within the same tenant or a company for a different tenant.

Available when Inbox Type is Web Service.

Before using this action, the same user mapping record must already exist for both companies. For more information, see IC Suite User Mapping.

Copy to IC Partner

Select this action to copy the inverse of the Due To and Due From accounts from the originating and destination companies of a source intercompany partner code (currently displayed) to a selected intercompany partner code. Available when Inbox Type is Web Service.

Disabled for Master Data partner type. User mapping only required if destination company is MEM and usernames are different in different environments.

After the process completes, the accounts are copied as follows: 

  • The Due To and Due From accounts from the originating entity of the source Intercompany Suite partner are copied to the destination entity of the selected Intercompany Suite partner.
  • The Due To and Due From accounts from the destination entity of the source Intercompany Suite partner are copied to the originating entity of the selected Intercompany Suite partner.

Delete Due To/Due From Accounts

Select this action to delete all the Due To/Due From Account combinations.

Disabled for Master Data partner type.

Setup IC Partner Location

Select this action to setup the default destination location for the destination entity. Opens the IC Suite Entity Location window.

Disabled for Master Data partner type and non-MEM destination company.

Default Datasets Select this action to add a Default Dataset for the partner. IC Partner can only have one Default Dataset per Master Data type. This action only available if IC Partner Type is Master Data or Both.
