Planning Worksheets
Use this page to calculate inventory requisition. For more information, see the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central documentation.
Lines in the planning worksheet can be added based on the following security settings from the Multi-Entity Management Setup:
- Work Center Security (includes machine center security)
- Item Security
- Location Security
Create Planning Worksheet
To calculate a planning worksheet using the Calculate Regenerative Planning action, follow the steps within the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central documentation, and incorporate the following:
- Open the Planning Worksheet page.
- In the header, select the Entity Code.
- Select one of the actions to calculate a planning worksheet:
- Actions > Functions > Calculate Regenerative Plan
- Actions > Functions > Calculate Net Change Plan
- On the MEM Calculate Plan - Plan. Wksh., select the Inventory Entity Code.
- Select OK.
- If a SKU record does not exist or a SKU record exists but does not have both the production BOM number and routing number, then these values for the line are updated from the Item Card.
- If a SKU record exists and has both the production BOM number and routing number, then these values for the line are updated from the SKU record.
- If a SKU record exists, and has one of the production BOM number or routing number, the line value is updated from the SKU record, and the missing value is from the Item Card. For example, a SKU record has the production BOM number, but not the routing number. The production BOM number for the line is updated from the SKU record, and the routing number is updated from the Item Card.
- When Inventory Posting is Entity from Location, the entity of the location is assigned to the line. If the location is empty, the entity of the header is used.
- When Inventory Posting is Entity from Item, the entity of the item is assigned to the line.
- Demand
- Sales Orders/Return Orders
- Service Orders
- Jobs
- Production Orders (component items)
- Transfer Lines (quantity out)
- Supply
- Purchase Orders/Return Orders
- Production Orders (finished goods)
- Transfer Lines (quantity in)
- Also, lines can be added to the planning worksheet as needed. When adding a line, the default value of the Entity Code is from the header.
If needed, you can change the entity value.
Lines can be added or changed based on the following settings on the Multi-Entity Management Setup:
- When Item Security, Location Security, or Vendor security is turned on, the item, location, and vendors can be selected based on the user-entity permission access.
- When Inventory Posting is Entity from Location, a location can be selected only if the location has an entity assigned. In this case the location is required.
- When Inventory Posting is Entity from Item, an item can be selected only if the item has an entity assigned.
- Finish processing the planning worksheet as described in the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central documentation.
After the planning worksheet is calculated, lines are created. For each line created, a check is performed for whether a stockkeeping unit (SKU) card exists for an item and location combination.
Also, the entity for each line in the Planning Worksheets is updated as follows based on the Inventory Posting option on the Multi-Entity Management Setup:
Only the documents that are assigned a valid entity are used in the calculation. User-entity access permission is not required for documents to be considered in the calculation.
Create Assembly Order
You can use the Planning Worksheet page to create an assembly order.
- Open the Planning Worksheet page.
- In the header, select the Entity Code.
- In the Planning Worksheet table, under No., select an assembly item.
- On the Action tab, select Home > Carry Out Action Message. The MEM Carry Out Action Msg. - Plan page opens.
- Under Options > Assembly Order, select either Make Assembly Orders or Make Assembly Orders & Print.
- Select OK.
- Lines can be added to the planning worksheet as needed.
An assembly order is then created. The line entity used in the planning worksheet is used as the header entity in the created assembly order.
If an assembly item has BOM (Bill of Materials) items attached to it, you can see those BOM items in the Components page. by selecting Home > Refresh Planning Lines. If you have set Entity From Location as your Inventory Posting setting, then the header entity of the assembly order is based on the line entity, or you can select a different entity. If you have set Entity From Item as your Inventory Posting setting, then the owner entities of the item or items are used as the line entities for the assembly order lines.
Note: You can only access the Components page if your company is using a premium license.
